I was on a brief walk today and spotted this broken-off lamp sitting on a bench. I'm not sure how the nearby post got decapitated, but I thought it was interesting.

Slate Canyon
Joanna and I hiked up Slate Canyon today, around to Slide Canyon, and back down by way of the Y. It was a long, but good, hike! Somewhat surprisingly, there were still several feet of snow up top, although we didn't actually climb any peaks.

Simple Bread
Joanna and I went to a class on making sourdough bread, and we made these little loaves of (normal) bread afterward. I'm looking forward to trying out the sourdough started we got, too.

Rainy Picnic
Joanna and I had a picnic tonight. Unfortunately, it rained briefly a few times. Oh well, one of these days Utah will realize it's supposed to be semi-arid!

Shredded Belt
I was driving home last Saturday when I heard a very loud whapping sound coming from under the hood. I pulled over and found that this belt (which runs the air conditioner compressor and the power steering pump) was about halfway gone, and the rest didn't look like it was going to hold on for too long. Today I removed what was left of the belt.

Skateboarding + Timpanogos
I went for a short walk today, looking for a good shot, and noticed the curves of this road. I started shooting, and as I was doing so first a truck came by, and then this guy on a skateboard. He was unexpected, but is a nice addition to what would have otherwise been a fairly empty shot of Mount Timpanogos and a road!

Creme Brulee French Toast
I made crème brûlée French toast, and it was quite tasty! Much better fresh than later, though. The caramel on top dissolves into the French toast if you don't eat it soon after making it. (Also, you probably can't tell from this shot, but that's the challah I made yesterday.)

Three Bananas
Playing with shadows. Joanna and I made banana ice cream today (from other bananas); all you do is freeze the bananas, and then puree them. It's surprisingly good.

Squaw Peak
Joanna and I hiked Squaw Peak today, and I took this panorama at the top just as it was starting to rain. I loved the hike, but the weather could've been slightly better! (This photo looks a bit better in person, but oh well. It looked even better from the top!)

Crispy Potato Roast
I made crispy potato roast for dinner, and thought it turned out quite nicely! A mandoline is a wonderful thing...

Road Construction & Blurred Flowers
There's been a lot of road work around here lately. As I was taking this shot, one of the construction workers (the foreman?) came up to me and jokingly asked if he was in trouble. We got started talking about the construction, and he explained that they're having to put in a much larger sewer pipe to handle a large apartment complex currently being built.
I've had some fun over the last couple of weeks taking deliberately out-of-focus shots of a flower bed near where I work. The reduction to shape and color makes composition the main thing I need to focus on.

Lime Marmalade
Unfortunately, this looks (and smells) much better than it tastes. Initially it's not so bad...but it has quite a nasty bitter aftertaste.

Hazel Cooks
Okay, so she's not actually cooking in these photos, but I loved her fascination with the cookbook as she leafed through it.

Multiple Shadows
We didn't have the lights in the office on, since there was plenty of daylight from the windows. When I stepped out of the office into the larger area beyond (which also had the lights off), I saw the multiple shadows (caused by bright reflections from several car windshields in the parking lot outside) and liked the look. I'm not sure why the wall looks so unevenly lit in the middle, however; it's not the result of bad dodging and burning!
